Winning the title of MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2 is like a dream come true moment for me. Today, I’m beaming with confidence while being unabashedly myself and ready to take over the world. Amidst all the odds and where I come from, I never thought I will come this far but I’ve learned to stay strong focusing graciously on my own journey. I owe it to my amazing competitors, Anusha Ma’am, and Milind Sir’s guidance for all the creative shoots and Malaika Ma’am’s inspirational words that pumped all the confidence in me. I learnt something new about me every day and that has been the most special part of this journey, it has been a pocket full of memorable experiences. The wonderful judges always asked me to be unapologetically myself, which I think is the ultimate blessing and I really owe my success to them.”

Controversy

Roshni Dada landed into a controversy as soon as her audition videos on MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2 went on air. During the question introduction round, when the judge Anusha Dandekar asked her about how her family feels about her on choosing modelling as her career and coming on the show, she replied,

Woh Humesha supportive teh.. like everything I do, they’re always there for me. But the thing is hamari society. I wouldn’t say like… main jis communities se belong karti hoon jahan pe itna.. matlab freedom nahi hota ladkiyo ko.. matlab, esa nahi karna …. Aur humare waha pe na proper fashion show hota hai… na proper photographs and all, nothing, is nothing there. Waha ke logo ko actually itna pat nahi hai. To my parents are always there for me but Hamare Jo hai, matlab I mean society, people there. It’s like they’re more intellect like padhai karo, Job Karo, you are a girl you need to like, you need to get married and look after his family like that, you need to give birth to a male child and all that stuff.”

Roshni claimed that the girl child in her community doesn’t get the same privilege as the boys of the community. Her statement cause a big controversy and her social media was filled with hate comments. Roshni defending herself said,

When I spoke about ‘freedom’ (women’s freedom) on the show, I meant to state that modelling as a career is not considered safe for a girl in Arunachal and more focus is given on education. I never meant to say that the girls in my state have no freedom, and they cannot choose where they want to go or what they want to wear.”

She further added,

I’ve worked with many photographers from the state, and they are excellent. What I meant to say is that there are no photographers working as professionals.”

Miss Arunachal Organisation was also trolled various social media platforms for crowning Roshni Dada as Miss Arunachal 2019. Roshni took to her social media to clarify all the misunderstandings and she posted,

The Miss Arunachal Organisation is not to be blamed for my statements. I treat every single member of the organisation as a family, and they have always supported me. Any words said in the show were not to defame any individual or organisation and rather was just a comparison between a pageant and modelling reality show.”

In addition to this, she said,

Whatever Dada said on the show is her own words and opinions. It has nothing to do with the Miss Arunachal Organisation, which many people seem to think and have been commenting on social media.”
