Some Lesser Known Facts About Ami Denborg
Ami Denborg is a Swedish engineer who is known for being the sister of Anni Dewani who was killed on her honeymoon when she was travelling in a paid taxi with her new husband Shrien Dewani in South Africa on 13 November 2010.
Ami Denborg was a quiet child in her childhood. She lives in Stockholm in Sweden with her husband and two children.
Ami Denborg recalled an incident in a conversation with a media house that before three weeks of Anni’s marriage with Shrien, Anni called her and said that it was not working well in their relationship. She said,
She called me, I talked to her a lot that evening. She was saying a lot of things. ‘It’s not working well’, and things like that. I thought she was just stressed out. Looking back, I should have told her ‘All right, forget it, I’ll support you, break this off.’ Maybe she would have been alive today.”
Ami Denborg and her brother urged the South Africa court through a video to question Shrien in the Anni murder case.
In 2014, when Shrien Dewani was cleared by the court in his wife’s murder, Ami Denborg stated to BBC media that her family would never find out the truth that why Anni was killed. She stated,
I lost my sister and all I want to know is what happened to her. I will never ever find out the truth and I don’t know how to deal with it.” Will be haunted for the rest of life.”
She further remembered that Shrien Dewani before marrying Anni. She said,
He has enormous charm. He was a really nice guy and liked to joke around a lot.”
She recalled that Anni was in love with Shrien and she was excited about her marriage. Ami stated that Anni used to say that she often get butterflies in her stomach when Shrien used to call her before their marriage. She stated,
They laughed together a lot. I think that was what Anni first liked about him.”
