Amish Tripathi born on 18th October 1974 (age 47)with zodiac libra is a well known Indian author. His books Shiva Trilogy the first fastest selling book series in Indian publishing history and Ram Chandra Series which is the second fastest selling book series. Amish Tripathi was born in Mumbai and grew up near Rourkela Odisha, he comes from a middle class family. He is an alumnus of Cathedral & John Connon School; St. Xavier’s College Mumbai; and Indian Institute of Management Calcutta Later he received an honorary doctorate degree from the Jharkhand Rai University in Art and Literature. He was a academically focused child. Before turning as a writer Amish worked as a banker for 14 years. In 2017 Amish launched his first non fiction book “Immortal India” and in 2020 he launched his second non fiction book “Decoding The Epics For a Meaningful Life”. Around 5.5 million copies of his books have been sold in the Indian Subcontinent since 2010.
Family
Amish comes from a middle class religious family. His grandfather was Pundit in Kashi(Varanasi) and a teacher of Physics and Mathematics at the Banaras Hindu University. His family was built on the charity of Madan Mohan Malaviyaji, who was known to help the underprivileged bright students and his grandfather was one of those student. Amish has one elder sister and two brothers. Amish and Ashish Tripathi are twin brothers.

His brother Anish Tripathi and Ashish Tripathi are the founders of Tzar Labs promoted by the Tripathi family which included Ashish and Anish along with father Late VK Tripathi. They claim to have come up with a simple blood test that can indicate with a very high degree of probability when cancer is imminent in a person.

Amish’s father Late Vijay Kumar Tripathi(death 6july 2021) and mother Usha Tripathi. His father was a Chairman at Epigeneres Biotech Private Limited Thane, Maharashtra. His father made many inventions in the field of Biotech and Cancer diagnosis. His father wrote a beautiful Urdu poetry for his wife Usha Tripathi. Bhavna Roy his elder sister and wife of late Himanshu Roy IPS who committed suicide after a long battle with cancer. She is an author and has worked as a volunteer in the school for special children in Malegaon and later in an NGO in Nashik called SOS. His brother Ashish Tripathi is the Chief Executive Officer at Tzar Labs and a former investment banker and Anish Tripathi is the Director and COO of Tzar Labs. Both Ashish Tripathi and Anish Tripathi are the Co-founder of the Tzar labs. Tzar Labs in which Ashish and Anish along with their father Late VK Tripathi claimed to have come up with a simple blood test that can indicate with a very high degree of probability when cancer is imminent in a person.

Preeti Vyas wife of Amish Tripathi. Amish and Preeti got separated in 2020. She is the President of Amar Chitra Katha Private Limited, publishers of the iconic Amar Chitra Katha comics, Tinkle magazine and National Geographic India. She is also the founder of FunOKPlease publishing that creates contemporary Indian content for children.

Banker
Amish worked in the financial service industry for fourteen years in organizations including Standard Chartered Bank, IDBI Bank, and Development Bank of Singapore. His final stint was at IDBI Federal Life Insurance where he worked as the National Head of Marketing, Product Development & Service Quality and was also the member of the Senior Management Committee.
Author
Amish Tripathi started writing in 2004. His first book” The Immortals of Meluha” was published in 2010. It almost took 5 years to complete his first book. While writing his first two books Amish continued his job. His first book “The Immortals of Meluha” was rejected by more than 20 publishers so, he self published his book and his book became a bestseller. His Shiva Triology was the fastest selling book series in the Indian publishing history. Amish Tripathi released his first non-fiction book, Immortal India in August 2017. His books have been translated into 19 Indian and international languages.
His 6 books till now —The Immortals of Meluha (2010), The Secret of the Nagas (2011), and The Oath of the Vayuputras (2013), which collectively comprise the Shiva Trilogy and Scion of Ikshvaku (Book 1 of the Ram Chandra Series) (2015), Sita –Warrior of Mithila (Book 2 of the Ram Chandra Series) (2017), Immortal India – Young Country, Timeless Civilization (Amish’s first non-fiction book) (2017) —have 4 million copies in print with gross retail sales of Rs. 120cr
In 2019 Amish was appointed to a diplomatic role as Director, The Nehru Centre in London, India’s premier cultural centre abroad.

Film Producer
In September 2020, Amish made an announcement of turning into a producer with an adaptation of his novel. He announced that he is turning into a producer with an adaptation of his novel, “Legend of Suheldev” under the banner Immortal Studios, with Wakaoo Films and Casa Media.

Amish was awarded Ustad Bismillah Khan Award (2018) for contribution to Indian culture.

Amish Tripathi decided to become a full time writer only after the success of his second book, till then he wrote his two books with his job.
Amish is a music lover while writing his books he always listens to music. He was the lead singer of the Baro-C bank at IIM Calcutta.

The Indian language movie rights of The Shiva Trilogy were purchased by Dharma Productions in early 2012 but due to some reasons the rights were taken back after some time.

Amish Tripathi’s first book “The Immortals of Meluha” its first chapter was printed and distributed free of cost, as a sampler. A trailer film was made and uploaded on YouTube, probably for the first time in the history of Indian publishing and for the 2nd book, The Secret of the Nagas, a professional film-quality trailer film was made and showcased in cinemas.
As a marketing strategy an original soundtrack album has been created for a book series called ‘Vayuputras: the soundtrack of the Shiva Trilogy books. Tripathi has also released trailers of his books in theatres and on YouTube. He believes that the audience for movies and for his books is the same. Artists like Taufiq Qureshi, Sonu Nigam, Palash Sen & Bickram Ghosh have contributed their talent to this album. A professional world-class music video has also been produced which is being telecast in various music channel.
During his job days while commuting from office to home Amish used to write his book .His first book “The Immortals Of Meluha” almost took 5 years to complete.
Amish’s ideal role model is actor Aamir Khan in terms of creativity and success. It is from him that Tripathi learned to invest all his creative energy.
He wanted to be a historian but soon he realized that it would be a career filled with struggle. Therefore, Tripathi dreamed of being a scientist or an industrialist but with time he started writing and became an author.
