Arijit Singh was born in West Bengal to a Bengali mother and Punjabi father. He hails from a musical family background as his mother, grandmother and sister all are very fine singers. He has three gurus, Dhirendra Prasad Hazari who taught him Tabla, Rajendra Prasad Hazari who taught Indian classical music and Birendra Prasad Hazar taught him pop music and Rabindrasangeet.
Before becoming a successful playback singer Arijit Singh used to freelance with singers like Vishal-Shekhar, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Mithoon Sharma, Pritam Chakraborty. Arijit Singh has won a National Film Award for song Binte Dil from film Padmaavat.
