Bhaskar worked as a LIC agent and in a toothpaste company for sometime to earn more money.
In an interview, Bhaskar said that he seek inspiration from people in a wine shop. He said,
One of the best places to grasp such lessons is a wine shop. I have seen people cry without tears, laugh without reason…As an actor, it is important to mingle with people, and understand how they behave.”
Bhaskar has done comic as well as negative roles. In an interview, he talked about his characters and said,
I don’t see myself only as a comedian. Even during my serial days, I was a villain from Monday till Friday in Selvi, and on Saturday, I was a comedian in Chinna Paapa Periya Paapa. It is my duty as an actor to make people see me as different characters. What is important to me is that every role leaves an impact on the viewer.”
Bhaskar spoke different slangs. He said that he tried to speak the language of the place where he lived. In an interview, talking about this, he said,
You wouldn’t have seen me in the same body language in two films. Can you name any? I reject a film when a director tells me this role would work well as one of my characters from my previous film. Likewise, when it comes to dialect, there are lots. Many people do not know which one is Tirunelveli dialect and which one is it. Just because it ends in ‘ley’ it necessarily need not be a Tirunelveli slang. In another film, I would have spoken Sangam Tamil throughout my screen time. These are the improvisations I bring on location.”
In another interview, he was asked about why he chooses role that has less screen time. To this, he replied,
I do not look at the duration of my role on screen. What is the point in doing a character which comes throughout the film but doesn’t really have an impact? I came for just 15 minutes in Vindhai, but that role got me a lot of appreciation. So, I do a role that tells me not to lose a director or a film. There are times when I have rejected characters that had more screen time but did not have scope for me as an actor.”
Bhaskar`s son is also a famous Tamil actor, and had appeared in the film 96 (2018) and Paava Kadhaigal (2020).
