Career
Sanjay Singh passed out of the Odisha cadre 1996 batch as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He was appointed as the superintendent of police in Odisha Police in October 1999. He then served as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the Drug Task Force (DTF) in Odisha. Later, he worked as the commissioner of Bhubaneswar and additional commissioner of Twin City, Odisha Police. He was one of the investigating officers in the Commonwealth Games scam in 2010. He was appointed as the Inspector General of Police, Government of India on 31 January 2015. He was on deputation to the central agency in January 2021. Sanjay has also served as the Deputy Director-General (DDG) at the Narcotics Control Bureau. After the removal of NCB’s zonal director, Sameer Wankhede in the famous cruise drug case of Aryan Khan and a few other people in 2021, Sanjay was appointed as the investigating officer. Apart from the drugs on the cruise case, five other cases were transferred to him in 2021.
